Downieville Museum
Downieville Museum preserves artifacts, photographs, and documents related to Sierra County’s Gold Rush history. Housed in a historic building that dates back to 1852, the museum possesses exhibits that explore mining, frontier justice, and everyday life in one of California’s earliest boomtowns. The museum illustrates the challenges and culture of nineteenth-century mountain communities, and their evolution into the present.
